10.15.05 | Women's Cross Country

NEWARK, DE -- In its final tuneup before the Atlantic 10 Championships on October 29, the Temple women's cross country team competed at the Delaware Invitational on Saturday. Freshman Angela Washko paced the Owls for the third straight meet, finishing 17th out of 69 runners and completed the 6k course at White Clay Creek State Park in 25:27.26. Since the Owls had only four runners compete, they did not score in the seven team invitational.

Sophomore Mary Claire Curran was Temple's second finisher, placing 30th in a time of 26:16.11, while junior Rachel Johnson (64th, 32:27.10) and freshman Rachel Angstadt (65th, 32:45.43) wrapped up the TU harriers.

Towson's Megan Lerch won the individual title in a time of 23:13.59 and the Tigers beat out host Delaware for the team title.

The Owls will compete in their first Atlantic 10 Championship since 1985 in two weeks at Philadelphia's Belmont Plateau.
