WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY PLACES 13TH IN ITS FIRST A-10 CHAMPIONSHIP

PHILADELPHIA -- Temple women's cross country placed 13th out of 14 teams while competing in its first-ever Atlantic 10 Cross Country Championship held at Belmont Plateau on a chilly Saturday morning. The Owls, in their first season of competition since 1985, bested St. Bonaventure by 41 points to secure its position.

Freshman Angela Washko again led the Owl harriers, finishing first for the team and 80th overall in a time of 20:19.2. Sophomores Mary Claire Currran and Shanice DePass ran 106th and 110th overall, respectively. Junior Jennette von Bargen and freshman Rachel Angstadt rounded out the Owl scorers, running 114th and 119th in the field of 125 finishers.

The La Salle women's team defended its crown, winning their fourth title in five years by outdistancing runner-up Charlotte, 40-113. La Salle junior Rachel Papin took home medalist honors for the second straight year, finishing the 5,000 meter course in a time of 17:43.0.

Richmond finished third with 104 points, followed by Rhode Island (109), Xavier (143), Duquesne (170), Saint Joseph's (173), Dayton (195), Massachusetts (220), Fordham (238), George Washington (299), Saint Louis (310), Temple (413) and St. Bonaventure (454).
