WHITE, RAMOS AND KRAMER ADVANCE AT NCAA MEN'S GYMNASTICS CHAMPIONSHIPS

WEST POINT, NY - Temple senior Nyika White, the nation's top ranked collegiate gymnast on rings and two-time All-American on the apparatus, posted the top score in the event during Thursday afternoon's qualifying round of the 2005 NCAA Men's Gymnastics Championships hosted by Army. White turned-in a 9.725 performance on rings to advance.

 

Fellow upperclassman David Ramos and freshman Sterling Kramer also advanced based on their performances Thursday afternoon. Ramos finished seventh in the all-around with a 52.875 total and will compete in Friday's all-around finals. Kramer placed tied for 11th on high bar with a 9.100 effort to advance with White.

 

Seven Temple student-athletes qualified to compete in the Thursday's national qualifier portion of the Championships. Juniors Dan Berlin and Brian Forquer, sophomore Derek Shepard and freshmen Luke Vexler also represented the Owls but did not advance.

 

Friday's team and all-around finals are scheduled to begin at 5:20 p.m. Saturday's event finals are slated to get underway at 7:00 p.m.
