OWLS DEFEAT AIR FORCE AT PACIFIC COAST CLASSIC

OAKLAND, CA -- The Temple men's gymnastics team defeated Air Force, 198.725-177.00, at the Pacific Coast Classic on Saturday, February, 25 at the Oakland Convention Center. The Owls also competed against club teams from both Arizona State and Washington, as well as international squads from the United Kingdom and Japan.

 

Junior Clay Stewart won the floor exercise during the session, posting a career-high 9.400. Sophomore Luke Vexler also performed well on floor, finishing second with a 9.200 effort. Vexler was also the team's top competitor on vault (9.100) and horizontal bar (8.700) en route to a 49.550 all-around total.

 

Senior team co-captain Brian Forquer led the Owls on rings (8.450), sophomore Andy Corp paced the team on parallel bars (8.050) and freshman John Vogtman earned the top score on pommel horse (8.250).

 

Temple's top event was the vault with a 35.750 total. The Owls also performed well in the floor exercise (35.225), but continued to struggle on pommel horse (30.250) and parallel bars (31.400).

 

Temple (8-6) returns to action this Friday evening, March 3, when they host Army and James Madison at the Liacouras Center in a tri-meet scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
