STERLING KRAMER COMPETES AT WINTER CUP CHALLENGE

LAS VEGAS, NV -- Temple sophomore Sterling Kramer finished 44th all-around in the preliminary round of the Winter Cup Challenge Friday at All Sports Arena, falling just two positions short of qualifying to Saturday evening's all-around finals. Kramer is one of the
Kramer is the only Owl competing at the Challenge, which utilizes a new scoring system that incorporates credit for the routine's content and execution. A gymnast's score is no longer limited to a maximum of 10. Utilizing the new scoring, Kramer posted an 12.650 on floor exercise (t-53rd), a 12.250 on pommel horse (51st), a 10.900 on rings (58th), a 15.300 on vault (t-46th), a 13.350 on parallel bars (t-30th) and a 12.350 on horizontal bar.
Kramer's all-around score was 76.800, one point shy of the 42nd place all-around score of 77.800. The top 42 gymnasts advanced to Saturday evening's all-around finals.
Based on the competition's results, the top six from the all-around finals automatically qualify for the 2006 senior national team. Six more gymnasts will qualify based on a points system established by the Men's Program Committee. The Men's Program Committee will select the remaining two gymnasts.
