SEVEN TEMPLE MEN'S GYMNASTS EARN ACADEMIC HONORS

PHILADELPHIA -- Seven Temple University men's gymnasts were named College Gymnasts Association All-America Scholar-Athletes while the Owls, as a team, placed seventh with a 3.094 cumulative grade point average.

Freshmen Jason Russo, who compiled a 3.73 cumulative grade point average while major in civil engineering, and John Vogtman (3.60, undeclared) were named First Team CGA All-America Scholar-Athletes. Junior Daniel Berlin (3.29, exercise physiology), sophomore Andrew Corp (3.40 physics), senior Brian Forquer (3.32, history), sophomore Sterling Kramer (3.31, biochemistry) and sophomore Greg Monaco (3.36, kinesiology) earned second team honors.  Berlin, Corp, Forquer and Kramer also had been named to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area At-Large Team this year.

Stanford won the CGA Academic Team title for the fourth straight season. The Cardinal was followed by M.I.T, William & Mary, Navy, Illinois and Oklahoma. Michigan placed directly behind Temple in eighth while Ohio State and Springfield rounded out the Top 10.
