Women's Cross Country Runs At Delaware

NEWARK, DE - Freshman Rebecca Mims covered the 5k course at White Clay Creek Park in a time of 20:18 to lead the Temple women's cross country team to a sixth place finish at the Delaware Invitational on Saturday. Mims finished 29th, just edging teammate Noelle McKenzie, who was 30th in a time of 20:20.
Freshman Paige Layng placed 34th (20:38), while classmate Jen Berman (46th, 21:04) and senior Cari Ann Gerbino (67th, 21:53) rounded out the Owls top five runners.
Towson won the team title with 46 points, edging host Delaware (54). Maryland-Eastern Shore was third (91), followed by Millersville (101), Loyola-MD (146) and Temple (183). UMES' Merrecia James won the individual crown in a time of 18:44.
The Cherry and White are back in action in two weeks at the 2007 Atlantic 10 Championships at Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia's Fairmont Park.
