Owls Drop Dual-Meet with Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, OH - The Temple men's gymnastics team dropped a dual-meet competition, 216.350 - 198.550 to Ohio State Saturday night in Columbus. The Cherry and White were led by junior Luke Vexler's second place score of 50.300 in the all-around.
The Owls posted a 34.200, their highest event score of the night, in the floor exercise led by Vexler's 8.900. Floor specialist Clay Stewart added an 8.500 while freshman standout Patrick McLaughlin contributed an 8.450.
The Cherry and White's pommel horse line-up saw just two competitors break the 8.000-point plateau as the team scored a 32.900. Vexler's 8.750 was a team-high while sophomore John Vogtman added an 8.350.
Vogtman's 8.850 on the rings led all Owls while McLaughlin added an 8.500 and Vexler posted an 8.200 en route to a team score of 33.400. Vogtman added another team-high on the vault with an 8.750 while junior Sterling Kramer tallied an 8.400.
The Owls' 32.150 parallel bars score was an event-low and by Vogtman (8.450) and McLaughlin (8.150). Vexler's 8.950 score on the high bar was the highest individual tally for the Owls while sophomore Jason Russo added an 8.300 to the team's 32.600.
The Owls continue their road trip on Thursday, February 8 at the Winter Cup Challenge in Las Vegas. Start time for the three-day meet is yet to be determined.
