PHILADELPHIA - The Temple women's crew started the day by dedicating a new Varsity 8 shell, but it was the Second Varsity 8 that finished the day with a win at the Bergen Cup Saturday on the Schuylkill River. In a morning ceremony, the Stephen J. Praisner Varsity 8 shell was dedicated due to the generosity of Dr. Bob Praisner. A member of the Owl Club Board of Directors and the Wachman Society, Dr. Praisner is a longtime season ticket holder and a generous supporter of Temple Athletics.
The Second Varsity 8, comprised of Jennifer Azeles (coxswain), Lauren Fattori (stroke), Laura Altimari (7), Jessica Hermann (6) Brittany Sugden (5), Carolyn Bailey (4), Laura Scullin (3), Kate Guth (2) and Nicole Wagner (bow), took control of the race early and led throughout.
The Varsity 8, comprised of coxswain Jillian Ploof, Stephanie Hanlin (stroke), Colleen Sullivan (7), Bailey Chick (6), Rachel Jordan (5), Leah Silverstein (4), Anne Mikolajewski (3), Amelia Mango (2) and Amanda Barr (bow), finished third behind Saint Joseph's and Drexel.
