PHILADELPHIA - Temple University junior Sterling Kramer has been named Owlsports.com Athlete of the Month for the month of March. Kramer, fresh off his Athlete of the Week honor (3/19/07), garners his first monthly award and the first from the men's gymnastics program since April 2005 (Nyika White).

Kramer's second place all-around (51.590) finish helped the Cherry and White to a season-high 208.400 team score and the 2007 ECAC - EIGL conference championship last weekend in McGonigle Hall. In Sunday's individual finals, Kramer collected four medals after qualifying for four event championships. The Garwood, N.J. native finished second on the parallel bars (8.650), tied for third on the rings (8.700), tied for fifth in the floor exercise (8.700) and fifth on the high bar (8.400).

In a tri-meet over Army and Navy on Saturday, March 17, Kramer combined three first place finishes with two third place finishes. In addition to his first place 51.200 all-around score, the junior posted tallies of 8.800 and 8.850 en route to capturing the parallel bars and high bar crowns, respectively. Kramer's 8.650 on the pommel horse and 8.450 on the rings ranked him third.

As the Owls downed Air Force and host Arizona State in the Southwest Cup on Friday, March 2, Kramer captured three event crowns in the all-around (51.100), parallel bars (8.700) and high bar (8.700).

As of Monday, April 2, Kramer ranked first on the parallel bar (8.720), fifth on the vault (8.530), seventh on the pommel horse (8.270), eighth on the rings (8.670) and ninth on the high bar (8.680) in the ECAC's overall event standings.
