Owls Run At Paul Short Invitational

BETHLEHEM, PA - The Temple women's cross country team took on some of the region's best teams in one of the nation's laregst fields on Friday at the 34th annual Brooks Paul Short Invitational on the Goodman Campus of Lehigh University. Senior Noelle McKenzie led the way, covering the 6k course in a time of 24:10 to finish 237th.
Freshman Rebecca Mims was next to cross the finish line and she placed 252nd (24:28). Freshman Jen Berman (289th, 25:18), freshman Paige Layng (298th, 25:48) and senior Cari Ann Gerbino (302nd, 26:07) rounded out the top five for TU.
Princeton claimed its second straight title with five runners in the top 15. The Tigers scored 45 points, getting by West Virginia, who finished with 118 points. Texas Tech came in third overall, but had the top two individual finishers. Sally Kipyego set a new meet record, with a time of 19:59, becoming the first woman to finish the Paul Short 6k in fewer than 20 minutes.
The Owls are back in action on Friday at the Monmouth Invitational.
