Owls Take Home Seven Medals at West Point Open

WEST POINT, N.Y - After finishing first among all collegiate teams on the opening night of the West Point Open, the #11 Temple men's gymnastics team saw its success continue as the Owls would pick up seven medals on the final night of the West Point Open. The seven medals won by the Owls led all collegiate teams.
It was two seniors that would lead the individual performances for the Owls on Saturday evening. Senior Sterling Kramer led the way for the Owls with second place finish in the P Bars, tallying a score of 14.50. Senior Luke Vexler finished finished third in the floor competition, compiling a 14.00 for the event to medal in the event. Vexler would also tie for sixth in P Bars by compiling a 13.70.
"We had a decent meet this weekend for our first outing," said veteran coach Fred Turoff. "Everyone knows what needs to improve for next weekend at Penn State".
Next weekend, the Owls will travel to Happy Valley to take on the defending national champion Nittany Lions.
Senior Andy Corp also had an outstanding day for the Owls, winning two medals at the open. He finished fifth overall to on H bars, compiling a 13.35 for the event and also finished fifth in the P Bars with a 14.20.
Sophomore Tyler Croteau shined in the vault competition, medaling with a fifth place finish. He finished with a 15.05, narrowly trailing the four competitors ahead of him. Junior John Vogtman finishing sixth in floor with a 13.60.
The Owls are back in action next Saturday when they travel to Penn State to take on the Nittany Lions. Action is slated to begin at 7 p.m.
