Today Temple honored its Senior Class of 22 members, the first full class to graduate under third-year head coach Al Golden. With the victory, the Owls finish the 2008 season with five wins, surpassing last season's win total of four games. The five wins are Temple's most since the 1990 season when the Owls finished 7-4 overall. The five wins mark the first time since the 2002 season that the Owls have won four or more games in back-to-back seasons.

Temple finished its second season of play in the Mid-American Conference with 4-4 record, matching its record from 2007. It is the first time in school history that Temple has won at least four conference games in back-to-back seasons. [Note: Temple played in the old MAC- the Middle Atlantic Conference from 1960-1969 and in the Big East from 1991-2004.]

Temple is the first team to hold Akron scoreless in the first half all season. The Owls led at intermission, 6-0. Temple is the third team (joining Wisconsin and Cincinnati) this fall to hold the Zips scoreless in the first quarter.

Temple held Akron to just six points, 36.75 points below the Zips' average over the last four games. The Zips had scored at least 40 points (42.75 ppg) in their last four games prior to visiting the Owls.

R-senior C Alex Derenthal finished his career with a school record 47 consecutive starting appearances.

Senior WR Bruce Francis finished his career with school record 38 consecutive games with a reception.

Redshirt senior QB Adam DiMichele went 15-of-30 for 220 yards. It marked the 11th 200-plus passing yardage game for DiMichele which ranks him third on Temple's career list for 200-yard passers. His two four-yard rushing touchdowns were a career-high for rushing TDs for the senior. They were the fourth and fifth rushing TDs of his career. DiMichele finished his career with 5,024 passing yards which ranks fourth on Temple's all-time chart.

Senior WR Travis Shelton had 14 kickoff return yards to extend his career record. He finished his career with 2,507 yards.

Freshman Kevin Kroboth made his first start today at defensive back. He also plays wide receiver. His fourth-quarter interception, which he returned 56 yards, was the first of his career. • Sophomore S Jaiquawn Jarrett's interception in the first quarter was his third this season and the third of his career.

Junior DE Brian Sanford's blocked field goal in the third quarter was the first of his career.

Sophomore Jamal Schulters' interception in the fourth quarter was his third this season and the fifth of his career. He also finished with a career-high seven solo tackles.

Senior FB Marcellous Grigsby's two rushing touchdowns in the fourth quarter were the first touchdowns of his collegiate career.

Today 14 freshmen, including 11 true freshmen, saw action in the game.
