John Vogtman Named National Gymnast of the Week

PHLADELPHIA - Temple University junior gymnast John Vogtman was named the NCAA Division I Gymnast of the Week by the College Gymnastics Association for the week ending February 4th. Vogtman was also honored earlier this week as the ECAC Gymnast of the Week.

Vogtman, a junior civil engineering major from Baltimore, MD, won the All-Around with a score of 86.60 to lead Temple (342.85) to wins over Ohio State (341.15) and Navy (332.85) from McGonigle Hall on Saturday, February 2nd. He also turned in a 14.55 performance to capture first place on Pommel Horse. Along with Vogtman's All-Around first, Temple also captured a 2nd (Luke Vexler - 85.90) and a 3rd (Sterling Kramer - 84.50) in the all-around for the upset victory over the defending Big 10 champion Buckeyes.

Vogtman, along with teammates senior Luke Vexler and senior Sterling Kramer, are currently competing at the Winter Cup Challenge in Las Vegas. The Owls (6-1) return home on Saturday, February 15, for a meet against Springfield and MIT.
