Men's Gymnasts Vexler and Kramer Compete at US Qualifier

COLORADO SPRINGS, Col. - Competing at the qualifier for the US Championships, Temple gymnasts Luke Vexler and Sterling Kramer placed 14th and 18th in the all-around respectively at the event in Colorado Springs on Wednesday evening.
While both performer admirably against some of the best competition in nation, neither had enough high finishes on the individual events to advance under the placement system that is used to qualify for the US Championships.
Todd Thornton of Team Cheveron won the all-around with 88.40 points. Team Chevron's Joe Hagerty of Rio Ranchero, N.M., was second, followed by Danell Leyva of Universal Gymnastics. In all, 14 gymnasts qualified to compete in the 2008 Visa Championships, May 22-24 in Houston, which will determine which men will advance to the U.S. Olympic Team Trials in Philadelphia.
