Vogtman Takes Third on Pommel Horse To Highlight West Point Open

WEST POINT, N.Y.- Junior John Vogtman took third place on pommel horse to lead the Temple Men's Gymnastics team at the event finals from the West Point Open on Saturday evening. Junior Patrick McLaughlin finished sixth on rings and sophomore Scott Bloomfield finished sixth on vault to the round out the Cherry and White medalist.
Vogtman finished with a score of 13.650, finishing just a tenth of a point off of second place (Tony Beck, Lehigh Valley - 13.750). Penn State's Casey Sandy took home first place (15.000).
McLaughlin finished sixth on rings with a score of 14.000 . Bloomfield finished sixth on vault with a score of 14.500. The rest of the Owls to reach the event finals did not medal.
The Owls, edged for second place by Navy after a scoring error on Friday evening, will look for revenge when they travel to Annapolis on Saturday to face the Midshipmen. Action is set to begin at 3:00 p.m.
