1.20.09 | Men's Gymnastics
Jan. 20, 2009
WASHINGTON Former Temple gymnast Luke Vexler will have a pretty good view of newly inaugurated President Barack Obama, as Vexler will perform at the first-ever Neighborhood Ball with about 15 members of the Manhattan-based acrobatic AntiGravity tonight from the Washington Convention Center.
The Neighborhood Ball will be the first of 10 balls the Obamas are expected to attend this evening. Vexler and Anti-Gavity are expected to hit the stage at 9:15 p.m. and 9:55 p.m.
If you're looking for Vexler, look to the sky. Vexler will be performing with AntiGravity Jumping Boots, spring-loaded stilt-type boots that enable will enable him to bounce and flip at extraordinary heights.
A prolific gymnast for the Cherry and White from 2005-2008, Vexler played an integral part in helping the Owls capture back-to-back ECAC championships in 2007 and 2008. The 2008 ECAC Senior of the Year, Vexler captured gold in the all-around and floor exercise at the ECAC Championships this past April. He was also nominated for the Nissen-Emery award in 2008, considered the equivalent of the Heisman Trophy.
