McLaughlin Named ECAC Gymnast of the Week

PHILADELPHIA - Junior Pat McLaughlin of the Temple men's gymnastics team has been named the ECAC Gymnast of the Week for the week ending March 11.
McLaughlin, a native of Shrewsbury,Pa., worked the all-around for the first time this season and scored an impressive 84.45 in the all-around, placing second to Miguel Pineda(85.3) of Penn State, who ranked 9th nation. The Owls (332.3) lost a home dual meet to the Nittany Lions (347.55). Along the way, McLaughlin earned fist place on vault (15.75) and parallel bars(14.7) and second place on pommel horse(14.0).
A four time Junior Olympic qualifier he received his early training at Rebounders in Maryland under Abdul Mammen. He is the current ECAC Vault champion and is majoring in kinesiology.
The Owls close out the regular season with the final home meet of the season against Army and Navy. The event is the Owls' annual alumni homecoming meet and begins at 2:00 p.m.
