Men's Gymnast Mooney Named ECAC Rookie of the Week

PHILADELPHIA - Freshman Chris Mooney of the Temple men's gymnastics team has been named the ECAC Rookie of the Week for the week ending March 22, the conference announced on Thursday.

Mooney, a native of Freeland, Maryland, won rings (14.700) and counted on three of four events for the Owls(340.8) in their homecoming win over Army (317.150) and Navy(323.600).

Mooney, who suffered a knee injury last year at the 2008 Blackjack Invitational, is just beginning to
work the all-around again.

Majoring in kinesiology, he received his earlytraining under Abdul Mammon at Ultimate Gymnastics in Maryland.
