Men's Gymnastics Scores High In Classroom

PHILADELPHIA - The Temple University men's gymnastics team scored high marks in the classroom, placing fourth nationally with a combined 3.271 cumulative grade point average. Additionally seven Owls were named first team All-America Scholar Athletes and eight other Temple gymnasts garnered second team honors, according to the College Gymnastics Association.
The Owls, under the direction of Hall of Fame head coach Fred Turoff, finished behind Stanford (3.394), Williams and Mary (3.335) and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (3.275). Springfield (3.261), Ohio State (3.226), Minnesota (3.193), Michigan (3.191), Penn State (3.132) and Oklahoma (3.070) round out the Top 10.
Seniors Jason Russo and John Vogtman were named to the first team for the fourth straight year. They were joined by freshman Blake Collins, sophomore Rob Kay, junior Patrick McLaughlin, sophomore Jesse Kitzen-Abelson and freshman Christopher Mooney. The Cherry and White second-teamers were sophomore Tyler Croteau, freshman Matthew Martin, junior Ryan Healy, sophomore Adam Al-Rokh, freshman Logan Fiery, freshman Evan Burke, sophomore Chris Bizub and sophomore Scott Bloomfield.
