#16/17 Temple Travels To Fordham Saturday

Game Notes

The #16/17 Temple men's basketball team takes its five-game win streak to the oldest college basketball arena in the country, Rose Hill Gym, to take on the Fordham Rams Saturday afternoon (1:00 p.m./1210 AM WPHT). The Owls, now 16-3, are the only remaining undefeated team in Atlantic 10 Conference play at 4-0. The Rams (2-15, 0-5) have lost 10 straight and are one of two winless teams in league play.

Off to its best start since the 1993-94 Owls opened at 16-3, Temple, under the direction of head coach Fran Dunphy, continues to be led by senior guard Ryan Brooks. The reigning A-10 Player of the Week tops the team and ranks eighth in the conference with a 16.4 scoring average. Sophomore guard Juan Fernandez, who is among the top five three-point shooters in the league (43-97, .443), leads the team in assists (68) while ranking second in scoring (13.5 ppg.). Junior forward Lavoy Allen (11.2 ppg., 10.2 rpg.) is one of three A-10 players averaging a double-double.

Senior guard Luis Guzman (4.8 ppg.) and sophomore forward Micheal Eric (4.5 ppg.) round out the starting five. Junior Craig Williams (5.2 ppg.), sophomore Ramone Moore (5.2 ppg.) and freshman Rahlir Jefferson (3.6 ppg.) have provided a lift off the bench.

Fordham, under the direction of interim head coach Jared Grasso, is led by forward Chris Gaston. The top scoring freshman in the A-10, Gaston averages 17.4 points per game, good for fourth in the league, and 10.5 rebounds per contest. Senior guard Brenton Butler is scoring at a 15.6 points per game clip while topping the Rams in assists (42).

The Owls lead the all-time series, 35-12, but the Rams have won four of the last six meetings.
