Mims and Dorantes pace Owls in College Women's Brown race

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Senior Rebecca Mims and freshman Stephanie Dorantes were the Owls' top-two finishers in the College Women's Brown race, Friday afternoon at the 37th Paul Short Invitational hosted by Lehigh University. Mims and Dorantes were two of five runners who led Temple to a 31st place team finish.
One of the largest cross country meet's in the nation, the Paul Short Invitational played host to over 5,000 runners from 230 colleges and high schools.
Mims was once again the Owls top finisher, running a time of 23:31 to place 86th overall. Dorantes turned in a time of 23:49 over the 6k course.
Also faring well in the race for the Owls was junior Karrie Finn (24:22), freshman Sarah Rutter (24:36), sophomore Katherine Frank (24:47), senior Briana LInneman (25:02) and sophomore Deidre MacFarlane (25:06).
In the Open Women's 6k race, senior Tashima Stephens led the Owls with a time of 25:45 over the hill and dale. Freshman Taylor Goldsworthy had a fine showing, running one-second behind with a time of 25:46. Sophomore Tonney Smith ran a time of 25:49, with junior Amy Stansbury clocking in at 27:12.
Up next, the Owls take to State College for the Penn State National Invitational on October 16.
