Murphy makes five saves in the loss

Box Score

AMBLER, Pa.
- A powerful Dayton (13-2-0, 5-0-0 A-10) offense handed the Temple women's soccer team (5-8-1, 0-3-1 A-10) a 3-0 loss at cold and blustery Ambler Sports Complex on Friday afternoon.  The Flyers saw three different players notch a goal in the contest, forcing Owls' keeper Tara Murphy to make five saves.

Dayton pressured in the first, making Murphy execute several diving stops.  The Flyers struck with a tally in the 38th, as Colleen Williams worked the give-and-go with Allison Giner for a 1-0 lead.

The Owls were outshot 11-4 in the first half despite solid effort from juniors Allicia 'Sha' Yurkovic and Niki Conn up top.  Sophomore Kate Yurkovic led TU with two tries in the first stanza, both from long range.

Two goals just minutes apart in the second half gave the Flyers a commanding 3-0 lead.  In the 54th, Tori Oelschlager found Colleen Williams for a goal, and then in the 60th Emily Kenyon set up Juliana Libertin.

Temple had trouble generating any offense against a stifling Dayton defense. The Owls managed one chance in the second half, with senior Liz Roper hitting a shot just wide of the net.

The Owls' home weekend wraps up with a match against Xavier on Sunday, October 17 at 1:00 p.m.
