Golf Leads Lincoln Mercury Intercollegiate after First Round

BEDMINSTER, NJ - The Temple golf team turned in its best round of the fall season, carding a 296 to lead the 18-team Lincoln Mercury Intercollegiate after the first round of competition Saturday at the River Course of the Fidler's Elbow Country Club.  The Owls lead second place Binghamton (298) by two strokes with the final round to be played on Sunday.

Senior Andrew Mason led Temple and was tied for second overall with an even-par 72.  Freshman Connor McNicholas, coming off a 12th place finish at the Big 5 Invitational, was one stroke behind and tied for fifth.   Fellow freshmen Steve Burak shot a 75 to tie for 19th while freshman Russell Hartung was tied for 25th (76) and sophomore Devin Bibeau (82/t-69th) rounded out the Temple squad.

Binghamton's Jake Katz led the field with a two under-par 70. 

Second round play commences at 9:00 a.m.
