- Racing against some of the top schools in the nation, including 14th-ranked Syracuse, the Temple men's cross country team placed 16th at the Penn State National on Saturday afternoon. Senior Mike May
led the Owls with a 28th place finish over the 5.2-mile course at the Penn State Blue and White Golf Course.
May blazed across the hill-and-dale in a time of 26:03. Senior Eddie Penetar
came in as the next-best finisher for Temple, placing 72nd in a time of 26:43. Junior Travis Mahoney
placed 93rd in a time of 26:58, while freshman Will Kellar
crossed the finish line in a time of 27:30 for 116th.
Rounding out the Owls seven racers were juniors Ben Thomas
(27:33, 118th), Dan Carreon
(27:39, 112nd) and Geoff Barletta
The Big East trio of No. 14 Syracuse, host Penn State and Villanova owned the top three spots in the team standings on the day.
The Temple men's cross country team has two weeks to prepare for the Atlantic 10 Championships, being held at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pa., on October 30.
