l Game Notes vs. Pepperdine
LOS ANGELES - Thanks to the family, friends and neighbors of junior Kristen McCarthy
, the Temple women's basketball team was very blessed on Thanksgiving Day in Los Angeles. The Owls spent the day preparing for tomorrow's game at Pepperdine and then celebrating the holiday at the McCarthy house.
After waking up and finally being able to see the beautiful sights surrounding the hotel, Temple practiced this morning at nearby Santa Monica College.
At 1:00, the Owls boarded the team bus for San Dimas to celebrate Thanksgiving with a delicious meal at the home of Denise McCarthy, Kristen's mother. It was a feast that could have likely fed a few men's basketball teams, thanks to Denise's days of cooking as well as contributions from friends, family and neighbors. Favorites of all included the slow roasted turkey, cornish hens, sweet potatoes, mac and cheese, strawberry lemonade and numerous desserts.
The street outside the home was filled with tables for all the guests, complete with tablecloths and outdoor heaters. After the meal, the team headed inside to watch football and play an intense game of Guesstures.
Once back at the hotel it was time to turn on ESPN2 to watch the Temple men's team take on Cal out at Walt Disney Wide World of Sports. The Owls are leading at halftime and we're all hoping they hold on in the second half!
Game time tomorrow at Pepperdine is set for 2:00 p.m. (PST). For complete game notes, click the link at the top of today's blog.
