ATHENS, OHIO -
The Temple men's basketball team takes its five-game win streak on the road this week, travelling to Athens, Ohio to battle the Ohio Bobcats on Wednesday evening (7:00 p.m./1210 AM WPHT). The Owls (8-2) will be looking to complete a five-game sweep of its Mid-American Conference opponents while Ohio (6-5), the 2010 MAC Champion, is hoping to rebound from a heart-breaking 112-107 four-overtime loss at St. Bonaventure on Saturday.
Junior Ramone Moore
continues to lead the Owls' balanced attack. Moore, who has averaged 18.6 points over the current five-game stretch, tops the Cherry and White with a 14.7 scoring average. Senior forward Lavoy Allen
, a Naismith and Wooden Award candidate, leads the Owls in rebounding (6.2 rpg.) while averaging 10.6 points per contest. Junior guard Juan Fernandez
(10.1 ppg.), a Bob Cousy Award candidate, boasts a team-high 34 assists.
Head coach Fran Dunphy
has utilized the same starting five the entire season with junior forwards Scootie Randall
(8.4 ppg., 5.3 rpg.) and Micheal Eric
(7.7 ppg., 5.7 rpg.) rounding out TU's first five. Sophomores Rahlir Jefferson (6.0 ppg., 5.3 rpg.) and Khalif Wyatt
(5.4 ppg.) are the only other players to have competed in all 10 games.
The Bobcats, under the direction of head coach John Groce, are led by sophomore guard D.J. Cooper. A Cousy Award candidate, Cooper had a career day against the Bonnies, scoring a personal best 43 points (on a school-record 41 field goal attempts). He nearly had a quadruple-double, dishing 13 assists while making eight steals and grabbing eight rebounds. Senior forward Tommy Freeman is the only other OU player averaging double figures with a 10.1 average.
Temple has won the only meeting between the schools, posting a 90-88 victory at the Liacouras Center on Nov. 29, 2007.
