McLaughlin Earns USA Gymnastics And EIGL Gymnast Of The Week Honors

Owls senior led Temple all-around to top conference-foe Illinois-Chicago
PHILADELPHIA – Temple men's gymnastics senior Patrick McLaughlin has been named USA Gymnastics NCAA Division and EIGL Men's Gymnast of the Week, for the week ending January 31. This marks the second time this season the senior has been honored by the EIGL, and the first from USA Gymnastics.
At the Alumni Homecoming event for the Owls, McLaughlin scored a season best 87.0 to capture the all-around as Temple (343.75) withstood a strong challenge from 2009 ECAC Team champion Illinois-Chicago (338.20). In addition, he took first place on three events - floor exercise (15.0), pommel horse (13.95), and horizontal bar (14.55) and posted a second on vault (15.8) to teammate Evan Burke (15.85).
Temple is now ranked tenth in the country as of polls February 1, and is currently competing at the Winter Cup Challenge in Las Vegas, Nev.
