The Temple men's basketball team, seeded fifth in the East Region to the 2010 NCAA Tournament, tied for its fifth highest ranking in program history when it was ranked 12th in the final Associated Press poll. The Owls (29-5), which became just the second A-10 team to win three straight A-10 titles, were also ranked 13th by the ESPN/USA Today poll. There will be one more final ESPN/USA Today poll released at the conclusion of the NCAA Tournament.
The Owls, who take on 12th-seed Cornell (27-4) Friday (12:30/CBS/1210 AM WPHT) in first round action, tied the 1993-94 team with their final AP ranking. The 1987-88 Temple team was ranked #1 in the final AP poll with the 1999-2000 and 1957-58 squads ending the season with a #5 ranking. The 1986-87 Temple team is the only other top 10 finisher with a #8 ranking.
Temple has now been ranked for 13 straight weeks and 143 times overall in the AP poll.
