No. 13 Men’s Gymnastics Geared Up For ECAC Championships

Owls have eyes set on title
PHILADELPHIA – The No. 13 Temple men's gymnastics team looks to return to the top spot on the podium at this weekend's ECAC Championships in Williamsburg, Va. The Owls placed fourth at last year's Championships, after owning the title for two consecutive years.
Led by 34th-year head coach Fred Turoff, the Owls have been ranked as high as 10th in the nation this season. Boasting a three-score average of 337.667, the Cherry and White ranks second in the conference behind rival Illinois-Chicago (342.783). Overall, Temple has taken seven first place team finishes this season.
Individually, Temple has several competitors in prime contention for medals. Senior Jesse Kitzen-Abelson ranks first in the conference with a three score average of 14.200, a mark that ranks 21st nationally.
Junior Blake Collins, the reigning ECAC Performer of the Week, ranks third in the conference with a three-score average of 14.417 on rings. Sophomore Chris Mooney has also been a consistent performer on rings for Temple, ranking sixth with a three-score average of 14.217.
In his collegiate debut, freshman Allan Malone has been stellar for TU. Boasting a three-score average of 14.650 on floor to rank sixth in the conference, he also ranks 12th on high bar. Another rookie having a solid start is Alex Tighe. Earning EIGL Rookie of the Week last week, Tighe boasts a three-score average of 14.100 high bar.
Senior Tyler Croteau looks to finish out his career on a high note, owning a three-score average of 13.817 to rank 11th in the EIGL on parallel bars.
