Owls Aid High School Player Development Program
PHILADELPHIA – Temple football has been selected to produce the 2010 Instructional DVD Set for the NFL High School Player Development Program, presented by the National Guard.
The instructional DVDs are complete and will be distributed next month.
“Temple produced our best HSPD Instructional DVD Set yet,” said Ray Anderson, NFL Executive Vice President of Football Operations. “Coach Al Golden and his staff did an exceptional job in editing, production, and delivery for the 2010 DVD. The integration of current Temple players who have participated in and benefitted from the HSPD program was a very nice touch to Coach's introduction. Partnering with Temple University on this DVD project has been seamless for our HSPD team. On behalf of the HSPD program, I want to extend sincerest thanks to Coach Al Golden and the Temple Owls for their hard work and dedication to this DVD project.”
According to Jerry Horowitz, the Director of HSDP for NFL Football Operations, the Temple coaches proved outstanding in providing material, and video coordinator Fran Duffy did an exceptional job editing and producing the DVD. The NFL also recognized the extra effort by director of operations Tom Deahn and director of player development Ryan McNamee in coordinating one-on-one interviews as well as photo opportunities with the 10 former HSPD participants that currently play football at Temple. This DVD set is phenomenal, and it will reach every high school football coach in the country as well as be distributed to the site managers and coaches at our HSPD sites this year. Horowitz anticipates the DVD reaching over 20,000 high school coaches. These coaches are teaching the greatest game in the world - football- and Temple's promptness in delivery was crucial to making the HSPD program a success.
“It is a tremendous honor for Temple University and our Football Program to be selected by the NFL for its annual High School Player Development Program,” Golden said. “This is an extraordinary branding opportunity for Temple University. When the Board of Trustees narrowly voted in 2005 to continue the football program, I am sure they never could have imagined by 2009 the Temple Owls would have the longest win streak in a season in more than a century and participate in a bowl game that would be seen coast to coast by a national television audience. Certainly, they could not have envisioned that Temple University and the Temple T would be paired with one of the most recognizable brands in the world – The NFL – and distributed to every single high school in America. On behalf of Temple University and our Football program, I would like to express my sincerest gratitude to HSPD Director Jerry Horowitz and the National Football League for believing in the mission of Temple University and our football program. Lastly, I would also like to thank our entire coaching staff, Tom Deahn, Ryan McNamee and video coordinator Fran Duffy for their commitment to excellence and generosity in delivering the Temple University brand to more than 20,000 high schools and two million prospective students across the country this May.”
Temple is in the midst of spring drills. The annual Cherry & White intra-squad scrimmage is slated for Saturday, April 17 at Chodoff Field at Edberg-Olson Hall at 2 p.m. This year's team returns 56 lettermen, including 16 starters.
The Owls, under fifth-year head coach Al Golden, open the 2010 season with cross-city rival and defending FCS national champion Villanova in the second annual Mayor's Cup at Lincoln Financial Field (date TBA).
Temple football season tickets are on sale now for as low as $90, and can be purchased by calling the Temple Ticket Office at 215-204-8499. Fans are encouraged to visit www.OwlsTix.com for full season ticket pricing information.
