PHILADELPHIA – After the Temple lacrosse team jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, the Towson Tigers showed why they're the eighth-ranked team in the nation and eventually won the game by a score of 17-9. Towson improved to 13-3 overall, while Temple stands at 7-9 with one game remaining.

The Owls will conclude the 2010 season with a game at Penn State on Saturday, May 1 at 3:00 p.m.

After honoring TU's four seniors prior to the game, as well as welcoming onto the field their new adopted sister Lily Adkins, the Owls started strong. Sophomore Stephanie Markunas scored less than five minutes in, and sophomore Kelsey Zeunk then put a goal in off an assist from senior Chelsea Rosiek to give the Owls a 2-0 lead at 22:36.

By the 10-minute mark of the first half, Towson had surged back to lead 6-2, and the Tigers continued doing damage down the stretch on their way to a 12-2 lead at halftime.

Six players scored two or more goals for Towson, led by Kelly Custer with three. The Tigers' Nikki Marcinik scored one goal and tallied a game-high four assists.

Towson scored its final goal with 17 minutes remaining to take a 17-2 lead.

Temple ended up out-scoring the Tigers in the second half by tallying the final seven goals of the contest. Zenuk scored twice more in the run to complete the hat trick. Freshman Emily Fine scored the first goal of her career, while Kellee Pace, Ann Stouffer, Charlotte Swavola and Shelby Christopher also tallied goals. Rosiek added a second assist for the game on the first of Zenuk's second-half goals.

Senior Jess Colucci recorded 10 saves in her final game. Towson out-shot Temple 36-23 in the contest, but both teams tallied 15 shots in the second half.
