Bloomfield tops on vault, Brana on parallel bars

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Senior Scott Bloomfield took the title on vault, and sophomore Taylor Brana won on parallel bars in the individual competition of the ECAC Championships, Saturday afternoon at William & Mary's Kaplan Arena.
Bloomfield posted a meet-best 16.000 on vault, also placing second on floor with a score of 14.600. Brana won parallel bars with a score of 14.000.
Senior Jesse-Kitzen Abelson was the Owls' lone competitor on pommel horse, scoring 13.950 to tie for third.
On rings, junior Blake Collins placed third with a score of 14.100. Collins was named the EIGL's Most Improved Gymnast of the Year in a post-competition awards ceremony.
Freshman Allan Malone competed on high bar for Temple, placing eighth with a score of 13.800. Junior Jeff Zach and senior Chris Bizub each competed on vault, placing fifth and sixth with scores of 15.250 and 14.850, respectively.
With their performances this weekend, the Temple men's gymnastics team has moved up to the 12-spot in the rankings, now qualifying for competition at the NCAA Qualifiers, held April 15 at West Point.
