Bloomfield earns a spot as one of 27 competitors to advance
PHILADELPHIA - After an outstanding performance at the 2010 U.S. Men's Qualifier this weekend, Temple men's gymnastics standout Scott Bloomfield was one of 27 competitors to advance to the 2010 Visa Championships, USA Gymnastics national championships, to be held at the XL Center in Hartford, Conn. on August 10-14. Bloomfield posted an all-around score of 53.4 to earn a spot in the highly competitive meet, and will be guided through the Championships by Hall of Fame head coach Fred Turoff.
Bloomfield (Wallingford, Conn./American Gymnastics) was the Owls' top vaulter throughout the 2009-10 season, winning the title at the ECAC Championships in the event. He placed first on vault five times this season, also taking top honors four times on high bar.
In addition to coaching Bloomfield at this year's Championships, Turoff has again been honored as a member of the selection committee to pick the United States team for the World Gymnastics Championships, this year being held in Rotterdam, Holland in October.
