PHILADELPHIA - The Temple men's soccer team will compete at home nine times in 2010, opening the friendly confines of Ambler Sports Complex on September 11 as they host city rival Drexel at 2:00 p.m. The Owls' regular season begins with a local trip to Easton, Pa., where they will take part in the Lafayette Tournament on September 3-5.
Two exhibition games will be the final preparation eleventh-year head coach Dave MacWilliams' team will have for the regular season. Hosting Delaware on August 23 at 3:00 p.m., the Owls will also take on crosstown rival Penn at La Salle on August 28 (5:00 p.m.).
Non-conference home games for the Owls include Drexel, Fairliegh Dickenson (9/19), Rider (9/22), and Big East foe Rutgers (9/29). The team travels three times in out of conference play, taking on Hofstra (9/16), Siena (9/25) and finishing the slate with city rival La Salle (10/2).
The Owls quest for a bid to the Atlantic 10 Tournament starts with a highly competitive match against school rival Saint Josephs at Ambler on October 9. Temple then travels to Ohio for what will certainly be a challenging weekend against Dayton and Xavier. Four of the Owls' final six conference games will be played at home, giving them a tremendous advantage down the stretch. Hosting Massachusetts (10/22), Rhode Island (10/24), George Washington (11/5) and Richmond (11/7), the team travels to compete at A-10 Champion Saint Louis (10/29) and 2009 NCAA College Cup participant Charlotte (10/31).
This season, the Atlantic 10 Tournament will be played at Charlotte on November 11, 12, and 14.
