Former Temple Softball Player Chante' Pleydle Killed in Car Accident

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. Chante' Pleydle, a 2009 graduate of Temple University, died Friday, July 30, in a car accident in Jacksonville, N.C. Pleydle was a two-year member of the Owls' softball program.

The 23 year old Pleydle, originally from Victorville, Calif., was serving in the United States Marine Corp at Camp Johnson, a satellite facility of Marine Corp Base Camp Lejeune.

"We were stunned to learn of Chante's passing Friday night,” said TU head softball coach Joe DiPietro. “She was an awesome person, one who I was very close to. Chante' was always in my office asking me questions about what she should do with her life and when she decided on the Marines she was very excited. The entire Temple Softball family is going to miss Chante's incredible smile."

Pleydle played two years for the Cherry and White after transferring from Frank Phillips College as a junior. A starter in 59 of the 61 games she played in, the outfielder was a constant threat to opponents on the base path. In two seasons, she was caught stealing only two times in 22 attempts.
