– The pairings for the prestigious 2010 Old Spice Classic have been announced with the Temple men's basketball team facing 2010 NCAA Tournament participant California in the opening round. The tournament will be held Thanksgiving weekend, November 25-28, at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex ® in Orlando, Fla.
The opening round of the tournament will be televised nationally on ESPN2, with the Owls and Golden Bears tipping-off on November 25 at 9:00 p.m. The teams have only met four times in the history of the two programs. The last meeting was in the 1973-74 season when the Owls won 51-42 at the Palestra.
All first round games will be played on November 25, with Boston College playing Texas A&M at noon and Wisconsin taking on Manhattan at 2:00 p.m. Georgia and Notre Dame tip-off at 7:00 p.m., with the winner of that game moving on to face the winner of Temple's contest.
Semifinal games will be played on November 26, with start times of 12:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. The championship game of the tournament will be played two days later on November 28, televised on ESPN2 at 7:00 p.m.
The three-time defending Atlantic 10 Champion Owls tip-off their season on November 12 with a home game against Seton Hall. The Owls follow that with a home date against Toledo on November 14. Temple, projected by many media outlets as a Top 25 team in 2010-11, returns three starters from last year's squad that ended the season 29-6 and ranked 12th in the Associated Press final poll.
