Women's Cross Country Set To Open Season At Monmouth Invitational

Owls return six seniors to 2010 squad
PHILADELPHIA - Returning six seniors and a total of 14 letterwinners, the Temple women's cross country team has a renewed sense of confidence heading into 2010. Of those returning, senior Rebecca Mims looks to spearhead the Owls' efforts in advancing the program further in the conference standings.
"On the women's side we are definitely looking for improvements," commented head coach Eric Mobley. "We keep making strides and bringing in some people that should definitely help us move up in the conference."
Six freshmen and one sophomore will be making their first appearances for the Cherry and White this season. The group will add quality depth to the roster and look to feed off of the upperclassmen for support.
Mims led the Owls in every meet last season, looking to do much the same this year. Helping shoulder the load this season are classmates Tashima Stephens, Shadaya Bennett, Jen Berman, Assata Cowart and Briana Linneman.
"She seems excited and motivated for her senior year," said Mobley of Mims. "Definitely to move her spot up, but more so focused on advancing the team in the conference."
The Owls jump start the 2010 season with a trip to the 16th Annual Monmouth Invitational on Saturday, September 18.
