PHILADELPHIA – Temple juniors TE Evan Rodriguez
(North Bergen, N.J.) and DT Muhammad Wilkerson
(Linden, N.J.) were named 2010 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Football Bowl Subdivision All-Stars on Friday.
The ECAC will honor its team of 27 FBS All-Stars on February 17 at the annual ECAC Awards Banquet at the Touchdown Club at the New Meadowlands Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.
A first-team All-Mid-American Conference selection, Rodriguez played in 11 games with nine starts last fall. He was the top tight end with 247 receiving yards and two touchdowns on 21 receptions. Rodriguez had a career-high 43 yards on three receptions, including a 31-yard touchdown reception, at Northern Illinois.
At 6-5, 305 lbs., Wilkerson was the recipient of the team's defensive most valuable player honor in 2010. A two-time first-team All-MAC honoree, the team captain started all 12 games at tackle. One of just seven Owls to start every game, he finished third in tackles with 70 and led the Owls with 13.0 TFL and 9.5 sacks. Named to the Outland Trophy Watch List, he earned MAC Defensive Player of the Week accolades twice in 2010. Last week Wilkerson announced that he will forego his senior season to enter the 2011 NFL Draft.
The Owls finished the 2010 campaign at 8-4 overall and 5-3 in the Mid-American Conference. Temple returns 43 letterwinners, including 13 starters, to the 2011 roster.
