Men's Gymnastics Competes In Individual Finals At West Point Open

Mooney takes second on rings, Tighe third on parallel bars

WEST POINT, N.Y. - Junior Chris Mooney placed second on rings and sophomore Alex Tighe took third on parallel bars as the Temple men's gymnastics team wrapped up its time at the West Point Open with the individual finals on Saturday evening.
Mooney scored 14.300 on rings, and was only outdone by Scott Rosenthal of Penn State (14.400). He also placed seventh on vault (14.950) and sixth on parallel bars (11.650). Tighe posted a score of 13.400 on parallel bars, with McKenzie Dow of Penn State taking home top honors (13.800).
Sophomore Brett Statman placed highest for Temple on vault, scoring 15.250 to place fifth. Junior Evan Burke finished just behind Statman, scoring 15.150 to place sixth.
Sophomore Allan Malone continues to be the top high bar competitor for the Owls, scoring 13.950 to place fourth. Senior Adam Al-Rokh endured a tough evening placing ninth on pommel horse with a score of 11.450. Senior Patrick McLaughlin did not compete.
Up next, the Owls travel to Annapolis, Md., for the Navy Open on January 22.
