McLaughlin wins on high bar, parallel bars

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - With two first place finishes from senior Patrick McLaughlin, the Temple men's gymnastics team placed first at the Navy Open on Saturday afternoon. The Owls put together a team total of 327.300, beating out host Navy who tallied a score of 324.300.
William & Mary placed third with a team score of 316.100, followed by Springfield who tallied 309.050.
McLaughlin led all gymnasts on high bar, scoring 14.100. The senior looks to be returning to form, demonstrated by another fine score of 14.300 to place first on parallel bars. Sophomore Alex Tighe turned in a solid routine on parallel bars as well, scoring 14.000 to place third.
On rings, senior Adam Al-Rokh led the Owls with a second place score of 14.000. Al-Rokh also turned fourth place finishes on floor (14.000) and pommel horse (13.200) to place second all-around (80.800).
Junior Chris Mooney and sophomore Brett Statman tied for second on floor with like scores of 14.300. On pommel horse, junior Taylor Brana placed second with a score of 13.800.
The Owls struggled somewhat on vault, led by a fourth place finish from senior Jeff Zack. Zack posted a score of 15.000, and was followed by Mooney, who scored 14.800 for fifth. Mooney racked up enough points to score 80.700 all-around, good for third.
Temple returns to Philadelphia for its first home meet of the season, hosting Army and Penn State in McGonigle Hall on January 30 at 1:00 p.m.
