Owls to compete at home three times this season
PHILADELPHIA - Fans will have three opportunities to catch the Temple men's gymnastics team in competition this season, as the Owls are set to host a trio of meets in the friendly confines of McGonigle Hall in 2011. The Cherry and White will have two away meets before their home opener, an always intense match up with Army and Penn State.
Starting off the season at the West Point Open on January 14-15, the Owls then travel to another of the United States service academies to compete in the Navy Open on Jan. 22.
Army and Penn State converge on McGonigle Hall on Jan. 30, in the first of a trio of home meets for the Owls. After a trip to the desert to compete in the Winter Cup Classic in Las Vegas, Nev., Temple takes a week off before inviting William & Mary to North Broad Street on Feb. 19. The meet is held in the midst of the Temple Boys' Invitational, which runs Feb. 18-19.
The month finishes with a trip to Springfield, Mass., to compete against Springfield and SUNY-Brockport on the Feb. 25.
The first of hopefully two trips to Chicago for the Owls is on March 6, as they take on conference rival Illinois-Chicago and Air Force. The Owls then make another trip to the western part of the country, facing Arizona State on March 11.
Finally, Temple makes its last appearance of the season at home when they host Navy on March 19. This year's ECAC Championships are being hosted by Illinois-Chicago on April 1-2, and the National Qualifying and NCAA Championships at the Ohio State University on April 14-16.
