Women's XC Set to Compete at A-10 Championships

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Atlantic 10 Conference will hold its first two championships of the season this weekend with the running of the Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships at Frank Liske Park in Concord, N.C., on Saturday, October 29.
The 23rd Annual Women's Cross Country Championship will begin at 10:45 a.m on the 5,000 meter course. Competing for the Owls will be: Kelly Broadbent, Erin Casey, Stephanie Dorantes, Jenna Dubrow, Karrie Finn, Taylor Goldsworthy, Rayna Kratchman, Dierdre MacFarlane, Anna Pavone and Samantha Shepard.
“We have a lot of new faces on the team this year, including five freshmen that have carried important roles,” head coach Matt Jelley said. “We've been much better on the women's side this season than we've been in the past and we need to make sure that shows up at the end of the meet. I feel we have a team that can make an impression and push for a high finish this weekend.”
Freshman Jenna Dubrow has been the fastest finisher among all Temple runners in each of the squad's three runs this season. Dubrow led Temple to its highest finish in program history at the Paul Short Invitational earlier this season, as the Owls placed 32nd in Women's Brown 6K. The first-year runner also set a personal record that day as her 38th place overall finish was an individual best for any Temple runner ever at that event.
Richmond will attempt to defend its 2010 crown, in which it defeated La Salle 43-68, and seek its third title in the last four years. The Spiders are led by sophomore Jill Prentice, who recorded a 12th place finish at the 2010 Championship.
