Fordham Gets By Men's Soccer 1-0 in Double OT; Owls earn No. 4 seed in A-10 Tourney
11.6.11 | Men's Soccer
AMBLER, Pa. – In the final game of the regular season, the Owls got their first dose of bonus soccer. Temple (9-9-0, 5-4-0) and Fordham (11-6-1, 7-2-0) went to double overtime where they continued to battle out a scoreless deadlock until the 106th minute when Fordham's John McHugh put Tim Richardson's pass in the back of the net to give the Rams the slim 1-0 win at the Ambler Sports Complex on Sunday afternoon.
Both teams came into the match having spots secured in next week's Atlantic 10 Championships, but it was a matter of what seed they would hold and who they would be up against when the teams travel to St. Louis later this week. With Sunday's loss applied to the A-10 standings, the Owls now know that they will be the No. 4 seed and will face No. 5 seed La Salle on Thursday at 8:30 p.m. at Hermann Stadium on the campus of Saint Louis University. The Owls defeated La Salle on Friday afternoon at home by a count of 1-0 on junior Cody Calafiore's penalty kick goal.

Sunday's game was one that incorporated chance after chance for each team, but Temple goalkeeper Bobby Rosato and his counterpart Ryan Meara kept the sheet clean for 105 minutes. Rosato made a career-high 14 saves, while Meara turned away all 12 of Temple's chances.
Fordham blasted 33 shots for the game to the Owls' 18.
Intensity was prominent throughout the match, as Temple and Fordham combined for 30 fouls and six yellow cards.
Prior to the opening kick, the Temple University Athletic Department held short ceremony to acknowledge seniors Evan Bransdorfer, Rodrigo Zuleta and Tyler Witmer for their four years of dedication to the men's soccer program. To watch a video of the pregame ceremony, click here.
