Women's Gymnastics Places Third At Maryland Quad-Meet


- The Temple women's gymnastics team posted a third place finish at the Maryland Invitational on Sunday afternoon, putting together a team score of 190.150.  The Owls were led by a third place finish on parallel bars by junior Corrine Williams and a fourth place finish all-around by junior Kaity Watson (38.700).

Maryland won the meet with a team score of 195.450, followed by Bridgeport with a score of 192.825.  The Owls bested William & Mary, who totalled 187.750.

Watson led the Owls on vault, placing a team-best eight with a score of 9.725.  Williams and freshman Sylvie Borschel tied for 12th on the apparatus with scores of 9.575.

Williams posted Temple's top score on parallel bars, placing third with a mark of 9.775.  Watson placed 12th on bars as well (9.625), while sophomore Ebone Grant placed 17th (9.425) and freshman Heather Zaniewski finished 18th (9.400).

On beam, Zaniewski was the Owls' highest finisher with a fourth place score of 9.725.  Grant finished in the top 10, tying for ninth with a score of 9.650.  

Williams and Watson tied for sixth on floor, scoring 9.750.  Senior Marissa Oxenford aided their efforts with a score of 9.650 to place 11th, while freshman Brianna Ferdinandi finished 13th (9.550).

Up next is the Owls' most anticipated road trip of the season, as Temple travels to compete at national powerhouse Missouri on March 4 (6:30 p.m.).
