The three-time defending Atlantic 10 Conference champion Temple Owls have returned to college basketball's Top 25 with the release of this week's polls. Temple is ranked #24 in the latest Associated Press poll released today, and is the second highest team among others receiving votes in the ESPN/USA Today poll. The Owls had been previously ranked in the January 11, 2011 poll, #19 AP/#23 ESPN/USA Today, before losing at Duquesne to fall out of the polls.
Temple had a streak of 16 straight weeks in the polls end following two losses in the Old Spice Classic held in Orlando, Fla. Thanksgiving weekend. The Owls rejoined the Associated Press poll at #25 on December 27, but dropped out after their narrow loss (78-74) at #7/7 Villanova on Dec. 30.
The Owls (17-5, 7-2 in Atlantic 10) put their 18-game home win streak on the line when they next host Fordham on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m before travelling to Dayton Saturday (1:00 p.m./ESPNU/1210 AM WPHT).
