Owls host Navy in final home meet on March 19

PHILADELPHIA - The no. 12 Temple men's gymnastics team is hopeful to send off seniors Patrick McLaughlin, Scott Bloomfield and Jesse Kitzen-Abelson with a memorable meet as the Owls host Navy and celebrate Senior Day on March 19 at 2:00 p.m. inside McGonigle Hall.  The meet will be the last of the regular season for Temple, which will travel to the ECAC Championships on April 2-3.

McLaughlin is the longest tenured Owl on head coach Fred Turoff's roster, returning for his fifth and final year after suffering an injury on Senior Day last season.  The Shrewsbury, Pa., native has progressed streadily as this season has gone on, becoming a force on high bar and parallel bars.  He ranks tops in the conference on both apparatus, with a three-score average of 14.600 on parallel bars and 14.467 on high bar.

Bloomfield and Kitzen-Abelson have battled injury this season, with Kitzen-Abelson recovering to compete in the last three meets this season.  Bloomfield only competed in the West Point Open for Temple, scoring 15.500 on vault to place fourth in the team competition.  Over their careers the trio has been critical in Temple's success.

Also leading the way for Temple is senior Adam Al-Rokh, who ranks in the top five in the conference on rings and pommel horse.  He has also been the Owls most consistent competitor all-around, posting a three-score average of 82.425 to rank fifth in the conference.

Temple enters this weekends competition ranked first in the EIGL with a three-score average of 335.014.  Navy is ranked sixth in the conference with a three-score average of 327.008, led by all-arounder Andrew Faulk, who ranks second in the EIGL with a three-score average of 84.492.

The meet is scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. start time on Saturday, March 19, with Senior Day ceremonies taking place prior to the start of competition in McGonigle Hall.
