PHILADELPHIA – Christina Corsa scored five goals for UC Davis, including four in the second half, to lift the Aggies (4-1) to a 15-7 win against Temple lacrosse on Friday afternoon at Geasey Field. The teams were tied 5-5 at halftime, but UC Davis came out firing in a huge second half to take the win.

Seven different players scored for Temple (1-2) including sophomore Kellee Pace, who also tallied an assist in the game.

UC Davis got on the board first with a goal four minutes into the game, but Temple sophomore Charlotte Swavola answered a few minute later with her sixth goal of the season.

Senior Ann Stouffer gave Temple a 2-1 lead at the 20-minute mark of the first half, and junior Kelsey Zenuk put the Owls up by two with a free position goal a few minutes later. But the Aggies got both goals back within the next eight minutes of play, starting what would be a 4-0 run for UC Davis.

Junior Jackie Mercer stopped the Aggies' run thanks to an assist from Pace with four and a half minutes left in the first half, and Temple then evened the score before halftime with a goal from junior Karly Cohen.

Turnovers proved extremely costly for Temple throughout the game, but particularly early in the second half. UC Davis took advantage, opening with a 6-1 scoring run to take an 11-6 lead.

Freshman Kelly Syphard scored for Temple with 12 minutes remaining to cut the margin to four, but it was the final goal for the Owls. UC Davis scored four times in the final six minutes, with two goals from leading-scorer Corsa.

The Owls will be back in action next week in Florida, first taking on Jacksonville at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 9.
