Alumni Weekend 2011 Features Cherry & White Spring Game

Weekend includes Alumni Events, Exhibitions & Varsity Competition

PHILADELPHIA – Temple Athletics and the Owl Club have announced the schedule of athletic events for Alumni Weekend 2011. All events, except for baseball, will be held on Temple's main campus. All athletic events are FREE and open to the public.

Intercollegiate competition begins on Friday, April 15 at 3 p.m. when the Owl baseball team hosts Massachusetts in Atlantic 10 Conference action at Skip Wilson Field in Ambler. First pitch is 1 p.m. on April 16 and 17.

Alumni events open the activities on main campus, beginning with women's soccer at 6 p.m., immediately followed by men's soccer. Both alumni games will be played under the lights at Chodoff Field at Edberg-Olson Hall.

On Saturday, April 16, players from the Coach John Chaney and Coach Fran Dunphy eras will battle in alumni game at McGonigle Hall at 11 a.m.

At halftime, the gymnastics and fencing teams will hold exhibitions at McGonigle Hall.

The football team will take the field (rain or shine) at 2:30 p.m. for its annual Cherry & White intrasquad spring game at Chodoff Field at Edberg-Olson Hall. The Owls, under first-year head coach Steve Addazio, return 46 lettermen, including 13 starters.

In addition to athletic events, main campus events will feature a kids' zone, reunion tailgating, sports apparel sales, music, and food service.

On Sunday, April 17, the women's lacrosse team hosts St. Bonaventure at Noon at Geasey Field. The lacrosse alumnae will have a game at approximately 2:30 p.m., followed by a field hockey alumnae game at 3:30 p.m.

Parking: Parking is available, at a reduced rate of $6.00, in Lot #10 [located on Diamond Street between 11th and 12th]. Please note Diamond Street will be closed from 10th to 11th Streets.

Tailgating: Tailgating will be permitted in Lot #10 [located on Diamond Street between 11th and 12th] throughout the day.

Food will be available for sale on Diamond Street in front of Edberg-Olson Hall. A "Kids' Zone" will also be held on the grounds of the football complex.
