NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Temple's Stephany Parcell
and Massachusetts' Ali Houlis were tabbed the Atlantic 10 Conference Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively, while the Owls' Jaymie Tabor
was named Rookie of the Week for the week ending April 17.
Parcell scored eight goals in two games last week as Temple posted wins at Duquesne and against St. Bonaventure to move to 4-2 in the A-10 with just one week remaining in the regular season. The sophomore midfielder opened the week scoring three goals in a 16-15 double overtime victory over the Dukes. She also registered two groundballs and caused two turnovers in the win.
Against St. Bonaventure, Parcell recorded five goals including the game-winner as the Owls defeated the Bonnies 14-10. For the week, the Prospect Park, Pa., native scored on all eight shots and now sits with 26 points on the season with 22 goals and four assists.
Tabor finished the week for Temple with six goals on eight shots while recording two draw controls, one groundball and one caused turnover. The freshman attacker opened the weekend scoring four goals including the game-winner in double overtime at Duquesne. Tabor was the deciding factor in overtime scoring all three Temple goals including the clincher just 13 seconds into double overtime.
The Downingtown, Pa., native followed that performance with two more goals in a 14-10 victory over St. Bonaventure on Sunday. Tabor scored half of her 12 goals this year in Temple's two wins this past weekend.
